Police board members in the North will meet today for their first discussion of the controversial Ombudsman’s report that criticised the police handling of the Omagh bombing.

Police board members in the North will meet today for their first discussion of the controversial Ombudsman’s report that criticised the police handling of the Omagh bombing.

Unionist members are rejecting the report and are supporting the chief constable, while nationalists say its recommendations should be implemented.

The report said the police failed to act correctly on two warnings before the bombing and that the subsequent hunt for the bombers was flawed.
