Nelson Mandela statue unveiled in West Bank
A bronze statue of Nelson Mandela has been unveiled in the West Bank city of Ramallah.
The six metre-high statue, which was erected in a new square named after Mr Mandela, was a gift from the Johannesburg municipality, Ramallah's mayor Mussa Hadid said.
Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas and Johannesburg's mayor Parks Tau took part in the unveiling, which coincided with the 22nd anniversary of the end of apartheid.
The statue reflects the "special relationship between South Africa and Palestine", Mr Hadid said.
Hundreds of Palestinians attended the unveiling and took photos with the statue.
