Kerry mountain rescue and a coastguard helicopter will this morning set out to recover the bodies of the two people who died on the Carrauntuohill mountain yesterday.

Bad visibility and the location of the bodies halted the search of the bodies last night.

One of those who died is believed to be a prominent member of the defence forces.

The man, who is in his fifties and from Cork City, originally served with the army before joining the navy.

The other person who died was a Clare woman who was in her thirties.
