Thousands of people are protesting in Limerick city centre this afternoon against the decision by Aer Lingus to end its Shannon to Heathrow route.

Politicians, religious leaders and community representatives from around the mid-west are supporting the rally.

Organisers say it is an opportunity for people to make their feelings clear to the Government.
