A fisherman who was rescued after falling overboard off the Co Galway coast has died in hospital.

A fisherman who was rescued after falling overboard off the Co Galway coast has died in hospital.

The incident happened about 30 miles from the Aran Islands at 6.55am today.

The man, a Polish national, was critically ill when taken from the water but was later pronounced dead in University College Hospital in Galway.
