Six hurt in ‘gas’ blast

Six people were injured in an explosion at a house in Drogheda, Co Louth, today.

Six people were injured in an explosion at a house in Drogheda, Co Louth, today.

First indications were that the blast, in the town’s Cherrybrook housing estate, was caused by gas.

Emergency services are at the scene to investigate the incident.

The injured, two men, two women and two young children, are said to be in a stable condition in a Drogheda hospital.

A number of homes nearby were also damaged and other houses in the area were evacuated as a precaution.
