Martin Taylor would be the player likely to make way for Upson, who has recovered from a pelvic problem, but he impressed during the 1-1 draw at Wigan last weekend.

Midfielder Nicky Butt could also be in contention after his hamstring injury has improved since he limped out of the home win against Bolton. But Jamie Clapham (groin) and Julian Gray (ankle) are still ruled out as City look to avenge the 1-0 reversal at St Andrews earlier in the season.

Team (from): Maik Taylor, Tebily, Cunningham, Martin Taylor, Upson, Sadler, Pennant, Izzet, Jarosik, Johnson, Heskey, Sutton, Butt, Dunn, Forssell, Campbell, Melchiot, Vaesen.
