IMB issue urgent recall notice

The Irish Medicines Board (IMB) is today issuing an urgent notice for Irish patients who have been dispensed Prednisolone Tablets BP 20mg between the June 30 and July 18 of this year.

The Irish Medicines Board (IMB) is today issuing an urgent notice for Irish patients who have been dispensed Prednisolone Tablets BP 20mg between the June 30 and July 18 of this year.

The notice follows the precautionary recall of Prednisolone Tablets BP 20mg by its manufacturer, Clonmel Healthcare. A problem has been identified with one particular batch relating to a microbial contamination issue.

Details of the affected batch distributed in Ireland are as follows:

Product Name: Prednisolone Tablets BP 20mg.

Batch: 0658R

Expiry Date: 06/2008

Manufacturer: Clonmel Healthcare

The IMB is requesting all patients who have been dispensed Prednisolone Tablets BP 20mg between these dates to return them immediately to their pharmacist or doctor. The pharmacist will be able to dispense alternative prednisolone tablets.

The IMB is investigating the cause of this contamination with Clonmel Healthcare.
