Filipino president calls for action on racist attacks

Following continuing racist violence in the North, the Filipino president has written to the British government asking it to protect its citizens.

Following continuing racist violence in the North, the Filipino president has written to the British government asking it to protect its citizens.

Two Filipino nurses had their houses attacked in Co Armagh last week.

In a statement, President Gloria Arroyo condemned the attack in Portadown. She said she has directed her country's Department of Foreign Affairs to co-ordinate with the UK authorities for the protection of its citizens in Northern Ireland.
