The manager of Newry City Football Club is set to go on trial for assaulting two police officers, a court heard today.

Roy McCreadie, 47, is also facing charges of resisting arrest and failing to provide a breath test following an alleged incident at Caledon, Co Tyrone, last December.

A further charge of assaulting a police officer was reduced to resisting a police officer during today’s brief hearing at Armagh Magistrates’ Court.

McCreadie’s defence solicitor confirmed he will contest the charges.

Magistrate Paul Copeland told the court the case would next be called on July 19, when a trial date will be fixed.

McCreadie, of Moss Park, Derry, was excused attendance at next month’s hearing due to holiday commitments.

He was released on continuing bail.
