Foot and mouth monitoring group assembled

A top-level group has been appointed by the Government to co-ordinate management of the foot and mouth crisis.

A top-level group has been appointed by the Government to co-ordinate management of the foot and mouth crisis.

The group comprises of experts from the Departments of An Taoiseach, Agriculture, Finance and Public Enterprise, as well as representatives from the Gardai, Army and transport companies.

The group will meet every morning to review the situation and recommend necessary measures.

The Department of Agriculture has set up a number of helplines which will operate from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Saturday and 9am to 1pm on Sunday. To assist which specific queries on the current situation. The phone numbers are as follows:
