Dettori set for Falbrav ride

Frankie Dettori has been booked to ride Falbrav for fellow Italian trainer, Luciano d’Auria, in the Japan Cup at Nakayama on Sunday.

The four-year-old colt finished unplaced behind the Dettori-ridden Marienbard in the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe Lucien Barriere following an encouraging third to Aquarelliste in the Prix Foy.

“He ran a very good trial, but he was too far out of his ground in the Arc when they turned for the home. But he’ll love the firm going,” said Dettori’s agent Ray Cochrane.

Dettori will have a total of eight rides at the two-day meeting at Nakayama next weekend including the Japan-trained Eagle Cafe in the Japan Cup Dirt.

And he is also set for a busy December with important meetings at Riyadh and Hong Kong.

He partners Prix du Cadran winner Give Notice in the Riyadh Gold Cup on December 13, the five-year-old stayer having been sold recently.

“A member of the Saudi royal family has bought Give Notice out of John Dunlop’s for the Riyadh Gold Cup. Frankie won the Sagaro Stakes at Ascot on him. He’ll be a good ride round there,” said Cochrane.

“From there he will fly to Hong Kong for as well as partnering Grandera and Noverre for Godolphin he has picked up the ride on Slap Shot in the Hong Kong Sprint.

“She was the filly that was just touched off by Continent in the Abbaye when her rider thought she had won.”
