President Ahmed Tejan Kabbah is expected to win a landslide victory in Sierra Leone’s election after initial indications put his Sierra Leone’s People’s Party well ahead of the opposition Revolutionary United Front.

The official results are unlikely to be announced before Friday, but local results broadcast over the airwaves in many precincts have already indicated a landslide win for Mr Kabbah and his party.

Kabbah has been credited with bringing an end to Sierra Leone’s 10-year rebel uprising by bringing in British and UN troops to restore peace to the shattered nation.
