Workers will receive a 21% increase in salary and negotiations will take place over the next six weeks to discuss the productivity arrangements being sought by the company.

Management at the ESB said both they and their customers welcomed the news.

Strike action would have resulted in nationwide power cuts creating havoc for businesses.
