Tom Scudamore will visit a specialist on Monday after dislocating his shoulder in a fall at Aintree on Friday.

Scudamore was partnering The Giant Bolster in the Mildmay Novices’ Chase and took a heavy tumble when the gelding came down at the fifth fence.

He was taken to Fazakerley Hospital for immediate treatment but is planning to visit a specialist next week for a more detailed diagnosis.

“I’m a bit sore and cross today but fine other than that,” said the rider, who misses the mount on Or Noir De Somoza in the John Smith’s Grand National.

“It is massively frustrating to miss the National but these things happen.

“I’ve dislocated my shoulder and I will see a specialist on Monday and hopefully he will be able to give me a ball park figure on how long I will be out.

“I’ve dislocated my shoulder before and I was back in just under six weeks, but every dislocation is different and it just depends how much damage there is.”
