Arsene Wenger was today fined £15,000 (€21,800) and “severely reprimanded” by the Football Association after being found guilty of an improper conduct charge for accusing Ruud van Nistelrooy of cheating.
Wenger had denied the charge, which arose from his televised comments after Arsenal’s defeat at Old Trafford in October, in which he declared of the Dutchman that: “We all know him. He can only cheat people.”
The Arsenal boss was not present for today’s hearing in central London, but was punished in his absence, with the FA also warning him as to his future conduct.
