Police in the North have launched a murder inquiry following the death of an American woman near Queen's University in Belfast last night.

Police in the North have launched a murder inquiry following the death of an American woman near Queen's University in Belfast last night.

The 29-year-old victim, believed to be from the state of New Mexico, was found dead in a backpackers’ hostel on Fitzwilliam Street last night after sustaining a head injury.

A woman has been arrested for questioning in connection with the killing.

The PSNI has sealed off the scene pending technical examination and has not released any further details about the case.
