Tobosa on his travels

Tobosa impressed enough in a gallop at Newmarket on Saturday to persuade trainer William Jarvis to let him take his chance in the Prix Jean Prat.

Jarvis’ colt finished down the field in the Stan James 2000 Guineas last month before bouncing back in fine style to land the totesport.com Silver Bowl at Haydock under top weight, but he missed Royal Ascot due to a dirty scope.

Partnered by Michael Hills, he pulled nicely clear of a work companion down the July course and will head to Chantilly a week on Sunday for the Group One event over a mile.

“He worked well and I’m very pleased,” said Jarvis.

“I think if we have a clear run this week, on the strength of that work and on what Michael said afterwards, we will have a go at the Prix Jean Prat.”

The likes of French Derby winner Lawman, St James’s Palace Stakes victor Excellent Art and John Gosden’s Group Three winner Asperity are all entered in the race at this stage.
