Affordable housing construction up 73%

The number of houses completed under the affordable housing scheme increased by almost 73% last year, according to the Government’s housing statistics bulletin for 2003.

The number of houses completed under the affordable housing scheme increased by almost 73% last year, according to the Government’s housing statistics bulletin for 2003.

The bulletin showed that 1,524 houses were built under the scheme last year, compared to 882 in 2002.

The number of dwellings completed by the voluntary and co-operative sectors also increased by 18.9% to 1,617 in 2003, while a further 4,972 units were completed by local authorities during the year.
