Israel approves release of Palestinian prisoners

The Israeli Government has today approved the release of long-serving Palestinian prisoners.

It is to coincide with the resumption of peace talks between the two sides.

An official confirmed the opening of negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians, which have been stalled since 2010.

It is believed the US-brokered renewal of peace talks will open in Washington on Tuesday.
