Ulster Unionist Party leader David Trimble has launched a scathing attack on anti-war protestors planning to picket a war summit between George Bush and Tony Blair in the North later today.

He said the families of British soldiers from the North, many of whom are taking part in the invasion of Iraq, would look on in amazement at the protestors.

He also accused republicans of killing for an ignoble cause in the North to undermine democracy.

Speaking about tomorrow's talks between Mr Bush, Mr Blair, the Taoiseach and the pro-agreement parties, Mr Trimble said he hoped the US President would adopt the same attitude to terrorism in the North as in Iraq.
