It is being claimed that farmers are involved in more accidents than ever before because they are overworked.

The farm relief service network says the reason for the high level of ill health in the sector is that farmers are working long hours seven days a week.

The CEO of the network Peter Byrne says such pressure at work could be contributing to the high level of accidents on Irish farms.

In the last 10 years more than 200 people have died in farm accidents, 42 of whom were children.
