ISEQ up almost 5%

It was a good day for the ISEQ index of Irish shares, which closed at 2,621.15, an increase of 119.27 points or 4.77%.

All across the board there were big risers, with Kerry Group, up €1.38 to €14.93, and CRH, up €1.35 to €20.15, the biggest movers. Elsewhere, DCC was up 48c to €11.48, Elan was up 63c to €5.70, FBD was up 45c to €7.90, Glanbia was up 20c to €2.42 while Origin was up 16c to €1.60.

There was more mixed news for the banks, however. Both AIB and Irish Life & Permanent were both up 12c, to €1.89 and €1.85 respectively, but Anglo Irish Bank was down 2c to 21c while Bank of Ireland was down 1c to 90c.
