A modern-day record of 141 entries have been made for the Freephone Stanleybet Lincoln at Doncaster on March 27.

A modern-day record of 141 entries have been made for the Freephone Stanleybet Lincoln at Doncaster on March 27.

This beats the previous record of 137 for the first leg of the spring double received 12 months ago.

Aidan O'Brien's entries are the lightly-raced maiden High Country, dual Listed winner Shoal Creek and Rock Of Gibraltar's former pacemaker Sahara Desert.

Last year's winner, Pablo, is one of four entries for trainer Barry Hills along with Calcutta, Craiova and Flying Express.

Guy Reed, owner of Pablo, said: "Pablo is entered and could run again this year, although it is obviously very early days. We will have to see what else is going to run and take a view nearer the time."

The weights for the Lincoln will be unveiled next Wednesday.

In addition to Pablo, both the 2002 victor Zucchero, trained by David Arbuthnot and Nimello, who won the 2001 race for Paul Cole but is now under the care of Tony Newcombe, are entered.

David Nicholls is the trainer with the highest number of entries, with seven possibles at this stage headed by Onlytime Will Tell, who showed decent form in sprint handicaps last season.
