A brace of goals from Cathal O’Connor gave Roddy Collins' Vikings a Premier Division lifeline as Rovers slumped to a dispiriting defeat.

Gary O’Neill set up Cathal O’Connor, whose speculative chip beat Russell Payne to put Rovers ahead on 26 minutes.

Rovers levelled a minute before the break when the ball broke kindly for Keith O’Halloran on the edge of the area and he shot past Barry Ryan.

O’Connor restored the Vikings lead on 69 minutes before Adam Rundle sealed a vital win for bottom of the table Vikings four minutes later.
