Lack of interest closes Government web-site

A Government website aimed at convincing Irish teenagers not to drink has been temporarily closed down due to a lack of interest.

A Government website aimed at convincing Irish teenagers not to drink has been temporarily closed down due to a lack of interest.

The website was launched in a huge amount of hype as an international poll revealed that Irish teenagers are the worst binge drinkers in Europe.

The website is believed to have cost the Department of Health £40,000.

The site, launched just four months ago, has now been shut down due to re-construction.

The closure will come as a major embarrassment to the Minister for Health, Michael Martin, who is expected to launch the second phase of the campaign against teenage drinking tomorrow.
