Massive cigarette seizure in Cork

Custom officers have seized a massive amount of cigarettes destined for the black market in Cork last night, according to reports.

Custom officers have seized a massive amount of cigarettes destined for the black market in Cork last night, according to reports.

The haul was recovered in Douglas, in the south of the city

Two search warrants were executed to officers from the Revenue Custom service in Cork.

They searched a premises where they discovered 160,000 cigarettes of various brands. It is believed the cigarettes have a street value of €51,000.

A number of eastern European nationals were questioned in connection the seizure and the file on the case has been prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
