Shamrock Rovers ended a bad week with a battling display to earn a point and ease their relegation woes.

Derry’s Killiam Brennan cracked a shot off a Rovers’ post before namesake Damien Brennan brought a good save out of Rovers’ keeper Russell Payne, a former Derry player.

Rovers had their chances with Shane Robinson bringing the best out of David Forde.

Trevor Molloy then thought he had a penalty for Rovers late on but referee Pat Whelan waved play on.
