Hit-and-run leaves two men injured

A man was fighting for life in hospital tonight after being struck by a hit-and-run driver in County Down.

A man was fighting for life in hospital tonight after being struck by a hit-and-run driver in County Down.

The victim, aged in his early 20s, and a friend were run down at the Greenbank roundabout, Newry, at around 8.15pm by a silver car which failed to stop.

Both men were taken to hospital.

One is critically ill while the other’s injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

Police said the silver car was damaged in the incident and have appealed for anybody with information to contact them.
