Armed gang, one dressed as postman, threaten woman and son in robbery

A woman and her son have been tied up and threatened at gunpoint in their Co Tyrone home.

They were locked in a hotpress for several hours during the ordeal in the Tattysallagh Road area of Omagh on Wednesday.

There were no reports of any injuries but police said both victims, whose ages have not been released, were left badly shaken.

Detectives are now hunting for three men, one of whom had been dressed as a postman, who fled with an undisclosed sum of cash.

Detective Inspector Trevor Stevenson has appealed for anyone who noticed suspicious activity to come forward.
