Cork shopping centre goes into receivership

The Douglas Court Shopping Centre in Cork has gone into receivership.

The Douglas Court Shopping Centre in Cork has gone into receivership.

The shopping centre is operated by Douglas Developments Ltd, which has appointed KPMG as receivers.

A spokesperson for the company has said it has anticipated that all stores at the facility will continue to trade as normal and no job losses are expected as a result.

A KPMG statement read: "Following a request from the Directors of Douglas Developments Limited, Kieran Wallace and David Swinburne of KPMG have been appointed Joint Receivers to the company today by Bank of Scotland plc.

"Douglas Developments Limited owns Douglas Court Shopping Centre which has Dunnes Stores as its anchor tenant. The shopping centre will continue to trade as normal.

"All other shopping centres operated by the Shipton Group, including Douglas Village and the Blackpool Shopping Centres, remain under the control of the Shipton Group and are supported by NAMA and its banks."
