The first happened at around 7.30pm, a man in his mid 20s was stabbed in the face and side by a group of youths on Fleet Street.

He is being treated at St James Hospital and his condition is not serious.

A short time later, a man in his early 30s was assaulted by two males outside a night club on Cope Street - he fled onto Anglesea Street where he was then stabbed in the face and abdomen.

He is in a serious condition at the same hospital.

No arrests have been made but Gardaí are reviewing CCTV footage and are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
