Gardai in Cork are investigating an overnight stabbing incident in the county which has left a 22-year-old man fighting for his life.

Gardai in Cork are investigating an overnight stabbing incident in the county which has left a 22-year-old man fighting for his life.

The victim was taken to hospital after the incident which happened in the east Cork town of Cobh.

The man received multiple stab wounds after a row that broke out in a house in the Harbour Row area of the town at around 2am.

He was rushed by ambulance to Cork University Hospital where he underwent emergency surgery. His condition is understood to be stable.

Gardai have sealed off the house where the incident took place. They say they are following a definite line of inquiry.
