FG slams Taoiseach's appearance on RTE

Fine Gael MEP John Cushnahan has criticised RTE for inviting the Taoiseach onto its Premiership programme as a soccer pundit.

Fine Gael MEP John Cushnahan has criticised RTE for inviting the Taoiseach onto its Premiership programme as a soccer pundit.

Mr Cushnahan said he believes the move was a serious error of judgement in light of the current political situation and the impending general election.

He also said this error was compounded by the fact that Bertie Ahern reappeared on the nine o’clock news to talk about his performance as a pundit when he should have been asked about his performance as leader of a Government which presides over job losses, long hospital waiting lists and a peace process which is running into crisis.

“Why do Fianna Fail need spin doctors when they have such preferential treatment in RTE?,” Mr Cushnahan asked.
