A 13-year-old was arrested for threatening to shoot his teacher after she took his Game Boy off him.

Florida police say the pupil scribbled a note about shooting guns and drew a picture of someone firing a weapon at a woman.

The Crystal Lake Middle School student was arrested at his Pompano Beach home, but has since been released without charge.

Maria Schneider, of Broward County state attorney's office, said the note and picture, which the boy gave to a different teacher as part of a classroom assignment, are not illegal.

Police have confiscated two shotguns owned by the boy's father.

Charges of aggravated stalking with a credible threat, written threat to kill, aggravated assault on a school employee and threat to discharge a destructive device have all been dropped.

The boy's father said: "The teacher told him to write about whatever he wanted to write about and he wrote about how to shoot the gun. He didn't threaten the teacher."
