A man has gone on trial accused of knowingly infecting a woman with HIV.

Stephen Kelly, 33, of Provanmill, Glasgow, appeared at the city's High Court, on the opening day of a case that is the first of its kind in Scotland.

Kelly denies the charges of culpable and reckless conduct that he, knowing or believing he was infected with HIV, had sexual intercourse with Anne Craig at various addresses in Scotland between December 1, 1993 and March 29, 1994.

The case before Lord Mackay was adjourned until tomorrow.
