Socialite Paris Hilton has appealed the 45-day jail sentence handed to her after being found guilty of violating a probation order and driving with a suspended license.

Socialite Paris Hilton has appealed the 45-day jail sentence handed to her after being found guilty of violating a probation order and driving with a suspended license.

The 26-year-old's lawyers filed a one-page notice of appeal after her Los Angeles Superior Court hearing on Friday.

The notice is the first stage towards an appeal and does not automatically guarantee one will take place.

Hilton is currently due to spend 45 days in a California correctional facility. She has fired her longterm representative Elliot Mintz after he accepted partially responsibility for the strict sentence through misinformation.
