Update at 7.30pm: Search has been stood down for the night and will resume in the morning.

A search is underway in Co Clare for a man feared to have fallen into the sea.

The 19-year-old man, from the Quilty area, was last seen late last night while the alarm was raised at around 11am this morning.

Gardaí contacted the Irish Coast Guard who dispatched units from Kilkee and Doolin to assist in the search.

It is understood that some personal property belonging to the man was discovered near the sea at Spanish Point, where the search is now concentrated.

Land teams are searching the coast line while the Shannon based search and rescue helicopter has carried out an aerial search.
