Paul Lambert believes the Celtic board will back Martin O’Neill in the transfer market this summer to revive the heartbroken squad for the start of the new season.
Despite their brave final-day efforts in beating Kilmarnock 4-0 at Rugby Park, after losing the UEFA Cup final, they ended a thrilling journey with nothing to show.
But the Celtic captain does not expect an wholesale clear-out despite their failure to win a trophy and predicts some major signings could make them even better next time.
“I am pretty sure the majority of the players will be here next season,” said Lambert.
“I am sure the manager will get one or two great players in because we will need a big squad for the games we are going to play.
“We will have to play a phenomenal amount of games and the manager will need a big squad to play Saturday, midweek and then Saturday again.”
