Increase in hospital beds announced

Up to 850 new hospital beds will be provided as part of a Government public-private partnership in the Eastern Regional Health Authority and Southern Health Board areas.

Up to 850 new hospital beds will be provided as part of a Government public-private partnership in the Eastern Regional Health Authority and Southern Health Board areas.

The scheme will focus on community nursing units for elderly people requiring long-stay accommodation.

The Government hopes to eventually extend the scheme to all health board areas.
