The Ministers for Agriculture on both sides of the border have met to agree a joint plan to prevent the spread of foot-and-mouth disease throughout the island of Ireland.

The Ministers for Agriculture on both sides of the border have met to agree a joint plan to prevent the spread of foot-and-mouth disease throughout the island of Ireland.

A spokesperson this evening said the pair agreed that their slaughter policy was broadly the same on both sides of the border, and that blood testing would be extended.

They also agreed plans for minimising damage to cross-border trade.
