Almost 60,000 passengers will travel through Shannon Airport over the August Bank Holiday weekend, airport managers have revealed.
The airport is predicting a 9% jump in numbers as sunseekers choose to leave rainswept Ireland.
Passengers are advised to give themselves plenty of time in order to comply with check-in and security regulations.
European destinations are expected to generate the largest volume of passengers as people take advantage of the long weekend to soak up some sun or fit in a short city break.
Shannon Airport management also reminded passengers to remove all sharp objects from their hand luggage and to familiarise themselves with the security regulations restricting the amount of liquids and gels that may be taken on board an aircraft.
