An eight-year-old boy who died after hanging himself was the victim of “a tragic accident”, police said today.

An eight-year-old boy who died after hanging himself was the victim of “a tragic accident”, police said today.

The boy died at his home in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire, at 3pm on Saturday.

A spokesman for Hertfordshire Police said: “Police were called to an address in Fletcher Way in Hemel Hempstead following an incident to which paramedics had also been called.

“A young boy was taken from the address to Watford General Hospital where he sadly died a short while later.

“Whilst a full investigation into the circumstances is being carried out it appears that this was a tragic accident.”
