Fairyhouse are to monitor the situation ahead of their big Powers Whiskey Irish Grand National meeting over the Easter weekend.

The course is currently unfit for racing following a prolonged spell of wet weather and the four-day fixture, which starts on Sunday, could be in some doubt.

Cliff Noone, press officer for the Irish Turf Club, said: “The situation needs to improve dramatically I’d say.

“They’ll probably come up with a plan by Friday morning as that gives them a couple of days to put something in place.

“The situation there will be monitored very closely and everybody will be kept informed.”
