UK murder squad detectives suspect a teenager who was run over and killed by a bus may have been pushed in front of it.
The victim, believed to be aged 17, suffered fatal injuries when he was hit by a double-decker in Walthamstow, east London, last night.
Borough officers sealed off Forest Road between the junctions with Blackhorse Road and Palmerston Road, where the incident happened at about 7.15pm.
They brought in detectives from the Met’s homicide and serious crime command after reports that there had been a fight in the street moments earlier.
Officers have begun examining if the young man was pushed or running away from someone when the collision took place.
Witnesses told police a group of youths ran away after the bus hit the victim.
The bus was a westbound number 123 which runs between Ilford and Wood Green via Walthamstow and Tottenham.
A Met spokesman said: “Police were called at about 7.15pm on Monday following reports of a bus in collision with a pedestrian on Forest Road, E17. The bus stopped at the scene.
“Officers and London Ambulance Service attended and a male, believed aged 17 years, was pronounced dead at the scene. Next of kin have been informed but we await formal identification.
“Police are investigating the circumstances of the incident. Inquiries continue to establish whether an altercation, which we believe took place shortly before the collision, was a factor in the death.
“Officers from the homicide and serious crime command investigate together with colleagues from the collision investigation unit. There have been no arrests.”
