China frees more US spies

China has effectively freed two US scholars who were convicted of spying for Taiwan in a move designed to pave the way for US Secretary of State Colin Powell's upcoming visit to Beijing.

China has effectively freed two US scholars who were convicted of spying for Taiwan in a move designed to pave the way for US Secretary of State Colin Powell's upcoming visit to Beijing.

A total of three people China says are spies have now been allowed to leave China this week.

Gao Zhan and Qin Guangguang were freed today on medical parole, while Li Shaomin was expelled from China yesterday.
