The chairman of the Public Accounts Committee Bernard Allen has called for it to be given more powers for its investigation into the activities of the Dublin Docklands Development Authority.

The chairman of the Public Accounts Committee Bernard Allen has called for it to be given more powers for its investigation into the activities of the Dublin Docklands Development Authority.

It comes ahead of PAC's meeting with the Environment Minister John Gormley later this week to discuss the terms of reference for the investigation

Mr Allen said that the investigation could risk becoming a "charade" if they aren't able to summon witnesses and obtain crucial information.

He said their previous investigations into activites at FÁS highlighted the erosion of their powers under the Data Protection Act.
