Black Cats reject Higginbotham bid

Sunderland have confirmed they have rejected a bid from an unnamed club for defender Danny Higginbotham.

According to reports, Coca-Cola Championship side Wolves are believed to be the club to have had a bid in the region of £1.5m turned down.

Black Cats boss Roy Keane is a big admirer of the 29-year old who joined from Stoke in a £3m deal in 2007, and he is refusing to be short-changed if a deal was to be agreed.

He told the club’s official website: “We paid good money for Danny and he has done well for us. He played 20-odd games in the Premier League last season and scored three goals.

“If someone tells me his value has halved in that time, then he won’t be going anywhere.”
