Gardaí are trying to establish if a body recovered from the sea off Co Galway is that of a holidaymaker reported missing from the Aran Islands at the weekend.

The body was discovered by a fisherman in Galway Bay yesterday.

It is believed to be that of 42-year-old Derry man Joe Brown, who was last seen on Inis Oir on Saturday night.

Mr Brown was holidaying in the Aran Islands with his wife.
