30-year-old in court in relation to Christmas Eve murder

A 30-year-old man has appeared in court charged with the murder of Laurence Garvey.

A 30-year-old man has appeared in court charged with the murder of Laurence Garvey.

The 30-year-old accused was brought before a special sitting of Dundalk District Court yesterday evening.

He was charged with the murder of 59-year-old Mr Garvey on Patrick Street in Dundalk last Christmas Eve.

The court heard the accused shook his head and made no reply when cautioned.

No plea was entered, but his solicitor told the court the case will be contested.

The man has been remanded in custody to appear again at Dundalk District Court next Wednesday.

A 32-year-old woman arrested this morning in connection with the murder is still being questioned at Dundalk garda station.
